Week 1: Body Language


Our first week’s content covers Body Language. How do you present yourself to audiences with your body? How can you tell a story using your body?

Includes presentation slides, activities list, and recommended readings. Presentation covers stance, posture, transitional movement, facial expressions, eye contact, and gestures, among others.

Recommended Activities

  • Charades

    • Students act out words provided by instructor. Instructor may create their own lists of word prompts for students to act out.

    • Objective: help students understand how to use body language to communicate objects, ideas, and feelings

  • Nonsense

    • Students try to have a conversation in gibberish using only their face and body (ex: pencil, chair)

    • Objective: help students understand the importance of nonverbal communication
